I was greeted and instructed from the moment I walked in. There was parking at the front door just for me and they made me feel very welcome without putting the spot light on me. We were looking for a church in the area and after visiting around we were amazed at NLT. The Pastor and his wife were so friendly. The music was much better than I would have ever expected a church to have. I must say this church would be a great fit for just about anybody. The last thing I really loved was the number you youth they had. It was so encouraging to see so many young people there.

"I must say this church would be a great fit for just about anybody. "

Isn't that a bit of a stretch? I wonder if you can think of any people or groups of people that this church *wouldn't* be a great fit for? I've not been there, and I know I could think of some. Doesn't your statement sort of reduce humanity to a rather dreadfully bland, same, small group of people?

So do you get on here to just find people who have found a great church and have experienced life changes so you can try to complicate the new found excitement and joy they have found. I had addictions in my life that I no longer have. This was a place I was able to be comfortable and find people who helped me through these hard times and I was an overcomer. I pray blessings into your life.

Wayne, I'm glad you've found a church you love and that you experienced life changes, so you no longer struggle with the addictions you once had.

I understand where Benjamin is coming from - in my experience people aren't all looking for the same things in a church. What made this church work so well for you might not be important to some other people.

Having said that, friendliness is very important to me and I'm glad to hear they were very friendly - giving you attention which made you feel welcome yet wasn't to the point of making you feel uncomfortable. It sounds like they got it just right.

Wayne,

I want to say sorry. I was a bit over the top. I'm pretty sure I don't get on here for the purpose you expressed. I'm glad you asked though, cause you made me ponder the question of why I *do* get on here. I think you may be right in that my motivation isn't entirely ... "nice".

I've had a long experience of sunday morning church, both inside the United States and outside of it. I guess I wish that I had had the context, along the way, to ask some of the questions which I now ask about church in general and churches in particular. I guess i hang around here because my hope is to learn a thing or two, and perhaps occasionally say a "me too" to someone who's experiencing a pain similar to my own.

I mean I guess I did ask questions. I can see how my questions could come across as a bit snide. It's one of the losses in online communication. If you had been here next to me, perhaps a reassuring smile and a look of genuine curiosity would have make my questions less arousing of defenses. I'd still love to hear your response to them, if you're willing.

I guess I posted in the wrong place... I did a new rating instead of responding to this... here is what I said though

Interestingly enough I came across this site when just doing some research on our websites listing. I would first like to say that I am very encouraged to hear the great things that are going on in "Wayne's" life. I am not even sure who you are but I hope you continue to grow in the Lord. I have been at NLT for about a year and a half now. I started out just as a visitor like anybody else. The very first service I was blown away. The people were so friendly and wonderful to me. Since then I have become very involved and get to experience the family atmosphere weekly. NLT is def. a church that is reaching the un-churched. I also love the fact that no matter what you do, NLT always has a place for you and will get you plugged in. I encourage everybody to listen to the podcasts on the website from Pastor Tim.

As for the responses, I can understand the defensive nature that you might have felt. I understand that it probably isn't a church for every person in the world... but it is a church on the move and a church for the hurting and in need. I appreciate the enthusiastic attitude of Wayne and I hope it continues.
